Project: Selling Quiz and Services Website Redesign
Project Guide: Mr. Lakshmesh Prabhu, Senior UX Designer, Amazon
Duration: May ’15 to July ‘15
Problem
Every new seller who registers on Amazon has to attempt and pass a mandatory quiz to launch on the marketplace. This quiz helps him learn Amazon’s policies and best practices. As this is a mandatory step for the seller, it’s very crucial that the User Experience of the quiz task flow should not be frustrating for him.

Design Goal
To redesign Amazon selling quiz in a way that it helps the new sellers learn about Amazon policies and best practices, and to improve the seller experience so that they don’t drop off because of the quiz. The challenge was to design the right experience which helps sellers to learn and at the same time doesn’t over burden him to the extent that he drops off from the platform.

My role
I started with conducting stakeholder interviews, analysing user based data and competitive analysis. By performing an extensive user research (telephonic interviews and contextual inquiry) with a sample size of 20 sellers, I identified specific pain points. I designed various concepts keeping the business goals and design goals in mind. Then I further refined my concepts based on the feedback from stakeholders. I also met with the development team and produced iterations in accordance with the development resources and timeline. I prototyped my design and conducted usability tests to further improve the experience. I followed an iterative process to design the quiz interface for web as well as mobile.
Impact
Before the redesign, 30% of all new sellers dropped off of Amazon every quarter because of the quiz.
My redesign helped decrease the drop off rate down by 8%.
For my second project I proposed design recommendations aimed at guiding the seller landing on services.amazon.in towards the service/product that he needs, provide him the required information and gradually lead him towards registering for that service/product. I created mockups to improve the overall aesthetics and usability of the website.
