I'm a huge fan of Pacific Rim. I loved the movie and had tons of fun watching it MANY times. The soundtrack is amazing, the robots are badass and, overall, it was an ode to everything I've grown up watching - anime and tokusatsu.

EXCEPT for one "little thing".

 

The ending.

 

It was an absolute downer when, in the end, Hollywood producers (or whoever decides on cheesy retarded absurd endings) laid their fingers to, most likely, deliver an easy finale and make everyone happy.

 

But no one was happy. It sucked.

 

And, to survive this sort of trauma, I came up not only with my OWN ending in my mind, but also with the concept of the Mako I wished for the second movie.

 

Here's my perfect ending for Pacific Rim:

 

Raleigh dies in the explosion inside the rift, sacrificing himself in order to close it and to save Mako. Mako, instead of waking up inside her capsule feeling super fine, is badly wounded due to the explosion. BUT she's alive. The rescue team take her from her capsule, finding out she survived and the movie ends.

 

IN THE GAP between the first and second movies:

 

Mako recovers, but is covered in scars and loses an eye (because women with eyepatches are badass and, HEY, Ayanami). Well, the thing is, the rift somehow reopens, perhaps somewhere else. But what crosses through it are not the same monsters as before. Now they are hybrids which copied human dna. Raleigh's. What the monsters don't know is that some people were not into getting off guard again, and continued the experiments with kaiju tissue and kept building robots. And mixed both. Like Evangelion, yep.

 

Well, Mako's body recovered but, psychologically, she had much to deal with. This made her become SUPER badass. She decided to take Pentecost's place commanding the resistance. She's now Marshal Mako Mori Emoticon heart

 

Oh, and here's my portrait of her.
