I was saddened this morning to read in the Los Angeles Times about the passing of Larry Brezner, the "b" of bsp — a client, yes, but more importantly the beloved husband of a friend (also a client but now, too, also a friend). I originally also created a version that played more to the firm's comedy basis; below is the not-fully-refined sample. Because the team didn't want to be locked into comedy-only emphasis, they went with the more basic design. Logo designed in coordinataion with jewelry designer and long time client Dominique Cohen, the spouse of one of the firm's main partners.
Shown with an iteration of what turned out to be the final logo. When standing alone, we all liked the boxed version, however in practice — laid out as part of a letterhead, script cover or other — we liked the cleaner, no-box version better. We also went with a richer, darker grey (client wanted to stick with a grey palette).
