The Waitangi National Trust knew that if the treaty lost its relevance with younger New Zealanders, the country’s history would be lost to future generations. To connect Kiwis with the treaty and the place it was created, we built a long form interactive experience that captures the unbelievable events surrounding the creation of the nation’s founding document, in just one minute.
Using a flyover we took the viewer up close and personal to the Treaty, using the document itself as a storytelling device.
The experience is narrated in Te Reo and English.
Gateways to deeper content were placed around the key words on the Treaty.
Old paintings and artwork can be viewed full screen and video re-enactments can be watched.
Sound clips can be played to hear the pronunciation of Maori words.
