iPod Silhouettes Project

One of my favorite Digital Media II projects was the iPod Silhouette project, in which we designed iPod advertisements circa 2003.  To make this happen, we took pictures of ourselves and blacked them out in Photoshop.  We then found images of the iPods, wrote original slogans, and made the elements in the designs come together in harmony.
In the first ad I made, I wanted it to illustrate what the iPod Nano was all about.  When I had an iPod Nano, I remember it being pretty fun to use and navigate through.  Therefore, my slogan was "music in it's funnest form."  For this design, I also added some custom artwork to overlay the original image.  I made it to look like La Dispute's Wildlife was the album playing on the device.  However, when I changed this, I also had to redesign a few other aspects to make it look realistic.  In the end, I feel like it looks good enough, but it could be a lot better.
I made the other ad about the iPod Shuffle, a more compact iPod that has no screen.  I thought, "well that just makes things a lot simpler," so I made the slogan to reflect that.  The hardest part in this design was coloring the iPod in my hand to look realistic, which was rather harder than it looked.
