A YCN competition brief that asked to create a marketing tool promoting Fedriogni's latest range of black papers and boards, Sirio Ultra Black. The paper is one of the darkest black papers on the market. Inspired by the natural glow of deep sea creatures (bioluminescence) where they live in complete absence of light, the concept uses the papers fantastic foiling qualities to replicate the glow of these sea creatures. The solution is 6 posters, each a different weight of Sirio Ultra Black that each have a different sea creature foiled on representing the qualities of the paper, e.g. the angler fish and his light represents the light fast qualities of the paper. The range is called Deep Black. The posters are to be used as display items in a studio environment.

Direct mailer - envelope on the left has a circular window, a subtle hint to a submaine window which shows part of the poster, linking the idea of discovery of the deep sea. When opened the 6 posters are secured with a paper wrap with the die cut hole which tells very briefly an idea of the concept of the deep sea/deep black.
