I never knew much about dementia. It saddened me that we know so little about something that affects the lives of millions each year. I am creating this photographic journal as a means and hope of raising awareness about dementia in all its forms, and just how devastating it can be – not just for those with the disease, but also for those who have to witness loved ones suffering from it.
I often get very frustrated and angry, and have had countless outbursts and snapped back at my grandmother when she can be extremely spiteful and bitter. It is a constant test of patience for family members and friends, and yet, we have to remind ourselves that it’s not their fault. Just like any illness, we do not ask for it.
