Marcus Ezra's profile

Kenya Cultural Centre Re-Branding

The Kenya Cultural Centre & Kenya National Theatre are the premier locations for arts and culture in East Africa. Marcus Ezra Design led the re-branding project for the Centre. A major undertaking, the re-branding reflected and encompassed the essence of the 60 year old centre.

Better known as the Grand Jubilee Project, Marcus Ezra design commemorated 50 years of Kenyan independence by contributing to the refurbishments and redevelopment of both the Theatre and Centre.

The circular design of the logo motif depicts the continually evolving nature of culture. The unfinished circle and the ambiguous design (as opposed to a more clean and defined circle) is a reflection of the abstraction found in art and in numerous  interpretations of culture and traditions.

Kenyan diversity is reflected in the vibrant, deep and organic colours.
The multi textured gradients within the logo demonstrate the continual interaction of our people – different yet familiar, separate yet joined in loyalty to our beloved country.

The colors may appear in-congruent, but they reflect a unique harmony found in pluralist populations.
