NUBRE
The word ‘Nubre’ means design in the Nubian language.
Nubre is born from the project “Enhancing Contemporary Jewellery Design in Upper Egypt”, cofounded by Azza Fahmy and the European Union in Egypt.
The Concept of Change
This is based on the idea of creating a dynamic piece of jewelry which has pendants that move. Their weight and mechanism allow the piece itself to move as the human body moves. The distance between the two pendants changes, and accordingly the shape of the necklace alters.
In a dynamic world, where change has become the omnipotent force which drives designers to the edge, I found that it is all too important to design something that is ever-green withstanding the tests of time. From the colored Nubian architecture, I managed to extrapolate a design which people of all ages (past, present, and future) can enjoy.
