This illustration was made for an art trade with a collegue of mine. While I'm not a fan of making fan-art, this method of coloring is rather new and experimental for me as most of my paintings are done on one or very few layers. This one utilized masking and more layers. It's a great study for possible future workflows. I've posted my progress shots below!
This very rough sketch came from a couple of thumbnails I made before hand, mostly focused on the shapes and form of the drawing. Afterwhich, I make a clean / revised lineart sketch.
