Drought Tolerant & Native lawn conversion in Cupertino

California native white sage, australian lamb's tail, a classic euphorbia (Star of Madeira), lavendar and succulents fill in this beautiful drought tolerant perennial border.
Artichoke, salvia, evening primrose, pink muhley grass and fairywand gaura fill out the ranks. Hanging succulent baskets add vertical interest to this oceanic-feeling habitat.
Red adirondack chairs add some spice along with accent pillows to pick up the plant colors.
This alternative lawn is comprised of creeping thyme, roman chamomile and evening star ground covers. A circle of foxblove, rosemary and fescues fills in under the previously existing lemon tree.
A sheet-mulched alternative lawn. Dry shade habitat on the right filled in with African iris and fescue. Flowering pink currants along the back fence and a wet habitat on the right for colorful fuschias, heucheras, gardenias and ferns. The fountain helps create a sense of privacy in this small oasis while the stone bench invites exploration of the space.
Astilbe and gardenia create a center focal point.
A large leaved taro creates a tropical feel and visual interest looking out the main window.
One last before and after - NO TILL lawn transformation!
