Pookaari : Un-identity

I connected my design partner to pookaari.com, a fashion e-commerce portal set to launch in October, while I worked with the initial team that laid the groundwork. The first brief was to strictly interpret the quintessential South Indian pookaari or flower-seller woman. We did it in the style of Tamil pulp-fiction illustrations. Then we suggested a simpler look with other flowers, which we showed by example. The second brief was to incorporate jasmine flowers as they are the usual flowers that the pookaari predominantly sells. And then...we tried some more. By the end of it we had executed 26 different logos each with its own variations. Here are a few. 
 
 
 
 
 
At some point, the client reached out to a student talent website and got this logo done.
​This is the official logo now. We had nothing to do with it :)
