School Days are the Best : Scribbles Facebook

That's exactly what we believe because at Scribbles we're working towards creating a generation of happy kids who love going to school and think these are the best days of their life!! Because it is!!

Malavika Prasanna sent us a wonderful piece telling us how School Days are truly the best !! Read on!!

"We always hear people venting their emotions about their longing to go back to school again, and to live those carefree days when their most pressing concerns were to wake up early, do their homework, beat their friends at petty games, and probably squeeze in some studying. There were no bills to pay. No remembering to fix the shower. No important decisions to make. No family to look after. No savings to consider. In short, it’s a life free of almost every responsibility, in which the direst of crimes would be screwing up an exam, or in some cases, sharpening both ends of a pencil.

Schooling right up from 6th grade is what we long for. Everyone would fill with pride at the thought of entering middle school, surging into their teens and breathing in the air of superiority, which came as a result of having a couple of extra books with seemingly fancy names like Physics and Geography in their bags, and also, having their classrooms on the upper floor. Everybody remembers what school is like when we are twelve. Except for the 4 or 5 studious ones, we’d all jump at every opportunity to grab a seat in the last bench. We couldn't resist throwing those piercing stares at that one person who would always fire their hand up in the air for every question and score all the brownie points. There was nothing more fulfilling than bullying a nerd. A fair lot of us would wage a mortal struggle to keep our eyes on the board and try to shut out the voices in our head screaming out lilting tunes, or even to keep our eyes from closing during the most monotonous classes. For each mistake we made, we’d stride out of class with our heads held high, making sure we drag along a companion. We played tricks on our teachers and hoped that our sly grins wouldn't give us away. For every project assigned to us, we’d wish that we were on the same team as our favorite person, or maybe even our special someone. It would take us little or no persuasion with puppy dog faces to get what we wanted, like expensive mobile phones, iPods, play stations, etc. Middle school, we usually spend frivolously with some attention to education, owing to our parents’ coercion.

High school, I believe, is what makes the difference because we acquire the right to choose. In high school, we are subject to more than hour-long lectures about molding our future, about doing things right, about making a difference, and of course, about making it to the top. Yes, the metaphoric advises from the experienced are hard to forget. It’s also the time when we find our like-minded people, those who make things easier and make school a happy place, and also those who might stay by your side all the way. The final two years of schooling encompass a whole variety of activities, both theoretical and practical, with emphasis on the latter. And when the talk is about high school, one thing that can’t possibly slip anyone’s mind is the farewell. There is no denying that the couple of hours of the farewell are without doubt the best spent hours of high school. It’s when everyone is dressed at their best, whether it is the sophisticated neck ties or the classy bling. It also involves about a hundred thousand photo sessions, a gazillion memories and a mixture of laughter and tears, proving it to be the best end to school.

In our 6 most important years of schooling, everyone of us has had those moments spent with our platoons during/after dance-offs, quizzes, debates, spelling bees, singing contests, football matches, tournaments, sports days, annual days, etc. when we waited with bated breath and crossed fingers, anticipating the results, waiting to find out if our hard work paid off. These are crucial moments which we wouldn't have been through if not for our schools. Speaking of unforgettable moments in school, easily making its way to the list is the sound of the bell. That ebullient feeling knowing that your staring at the two arms of the clock finally paid off is really something. Also on the list is the zest that would overcome us when it was time for games! We couldn't wait to display our prowess on court. Yes, we've all been there. We couldn't hold on until it was recess either. Dear God! How much we had to say, how much we had to eat, and how much more we had to laugh.
A school, in general, is not only an arena for educational progress and cultural and athletic development, but also serves as platter which girdles a plethora of experiences, indelible memories, laughter, tears, love, friendship, life lessons and so much more. While taking a walk down memory lane, it’s almost next to impossible to not drop by at this juncture. Given the above, I unflinchingly believe that school life beats everything to the top."

Thank you Malavika!! We couldn't have said it better !! We'd love to hear from all of you, so do send us your best memories and thoughts from School too!!
