In celebration of Pink Floyd’s 50th Anniversary, worldwide animators are invited to create music videos for the iconic songs from the band’s 1973 album. Led by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hypnosis, the competition seeks to honour Pink Floyd’s rich history of collaboration with animators. The competition encourages participants to experiment with visual treatments and convey the essence of each song. Entries must be animation-based and can explore various techniques, from typographic to hand drawn styles. The project aims to engage a new generation of artists while paying homage to Pink Floyd’s enduring musical legacy.

The project centers around a song inspired by Syd Barrett, the former guitarist of Pink Floyd who battled schizophrenia. The lyrics depict someone grappling with their fractured reality, haunted by their own thoughts. The team synthesized various ideas into a final concept, portraying a character navigating daily life while struggling with their deteriorating mental health. Society's attempts to confine the character's «lunacy» due to their illness are highlighted. The aim is to convey Roger Waters message in the song, fostering a sense of connection among the audience. Illustrations capturing the essence of 1960s London, emphasizing fashion, design, and architecture, are envisioned. The visual style employs messy and sketchy designs, with morphing effects and a blend of conventional and vibrant colors inspired by Pink Floyd's album covers to create striking contrasts. The animation aims to evoke the surreal experience of schizophrenia, depicting the protagonist in a distorted reality.
