The Henry Street Settlement, based in New York City, New York, provides residents on the Lower East Side access to healthcare programs, arts, and social services. In November 2023, the Henry Street Settlement celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Art Show Benefit Preview, the organization’s largest fundraising event.
Organized by the Art Dealer’s Association of America (ADAA) and held at the Park Avenue Armory, the event saw an attendance of over 2,000 celebrities, philanthropists, supporters, and Henry Street team and board members.
In 2023, the event featured artwork from painters such as Kate Capshaw, who painted a portrait of Henry Street team member Toddrick Brockington and part of a special exhibition that Henry Street and the ADAA presented to attendees. Capshaw’s other works, such as her Unaccompanied series, were also displayed.
The Benefit Preview allows attendees to converse with artists about their art before presenting it to the public. Additionally, the event is the one time residents can see art before the pieces are open to the general public.
