What happens when a designer goes to the same cafe every morning, to grab a flat white with a parfait on the side, and it gradually becomes their favorite spot in Mexico City? Collaboration is imminent.  This is how our involvement in expanding Raku began, when its owners invited us to redesign its visual identity, granting us the freedom of creativity.

Inspired by Japanese gastronomy, ceramics and architecture, blended with Mexico´s local coffee culture - Raku´s identity was built. Our logo and icon make direct references to these inspirations. The initial goal, however, was to give the brand a solemn yet relaxed feel to it: we take coffee seriously but we love a good time. The best way we knew to communicate this mood was to create our illustrated mascots. The majestic Snow Monkey and the carefree Capybara are the main characters of our cafe, as they bring to life our favorite feeling: dipping ourselves in good coffee and savoring the simple joy it brings.

Raku, this café wasn't brewed by capybaras in any Japanese mount by the banks of the Fuji River. It's designed by Futura.
