Jysk: unsolicited app redesign
Design process
Jysk is an international retailer providing both online and in-store sales with a primary focus on Scandinavian design in the living and sleeping area, providing stylish and affordable accessories. The company is located in a saturated market, its direct competitors include, for example, Ikea, Zara home, Bella rosa, Butlers, Bonami, Moebelix...
With so much competition, Jysk needs to constantly improve its services to stay relevant in the market.
The goal of this case study is to create an e-commerce app with intuitive navigation throughout the products, that generates sales while matching the company's style identity.
I orchestrated user research via a questionnaire with the use of Google Forms. Since there weren't enough questionnaire outputs for the results to be statistically significant, I combined the main findings of the analysis with the additional output created by AI. Based on the gathered data, I created 2 proto-personas. In the case of this project turning real, I would put these proto-personas under the test whether they match the results from Google Analytics and then the corresponding changes to the design would be made.

After finishing the design process, I gathered a small testing sample of 10 users to test the interactive prototype. The testing process ended with a rating of ease of navigation on each slide. I gathered some valuable feedback after which I implemented the following changes.
Added features after user testing - total prices put in bold & highlighted discount button
Added features after user testing - social media
Prototype with added features
If a real project, I would use these changes propositions as hypotheses for further A/B testing of the app. Also, I believe further improvement of user experience could benefit from the use of heatmaps or screen recordings of real visitors.
I found this case study to be a challenging yet amazing and thought-provoking experience which helped me with learning not only the design part of the process (which was my favourite :)) but also understanding how users think and act.
Note: I do not work for, nor am I affiliated with Jysk. This UX study was done as a learning experience for me to explore products I love and try it make even better. All product photos included in my design are copyrights of Jysk.
