Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri was the seat of the Inquisition Court in Palermo from 1600 to 1782.
The building offers suggestive graffiti of their prisoners, discovered during recent restoration works: human bodies, boats, maps and invocation of those accused of sorcery.
I worked on the lettering, basing the shapes on some graphic elements taken from the calligraphic engraving on the walls. It has very light serif, but some letters are profusely decorated.
Then I recreated the shape of the Leviathan, the infernal creature designed on the wall of a prison cell.

Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri fu sede del Tribunale dell'Inquisizione a Palermo dal 1600 al 1782.
L'edificio offre dei suggestivi graffiti, realizzati dai suoi prigionieri, riportati alla luce durante recenti lavori di restauro: corpi umani, imbarcazioni, mappe ed invocazioni di coloro che erano stati accusati di stregoneria.
Ho lavorato sul lettering, basando le forme su alcuni elementi grafici tratti dalle iscrizioni calligrafiche sulle pareti delle celle. Presenta delle grazie molto leggere, ma alcune lettere sono abbondantemente decorate.
Quindi ho ricostruito la sagoma del Leviatano, la creatura infernale rappresentata su una parete della prigione.
