School project publication about the influence of the Basel School in the new graphic design era.
In this hypothetical first edition of Behind Basel, we've decided to put in perspective every interview we've found about the designers who attended the Basel School. The structure and layout of the publication sums the research work we've done as a group. Layers of text and images gives the reader a dinamic approach between students and teachers in this great institution of swiss design.

Editorial text

Based in Basel, Switzerland, the Basel School of Design is known for its visible and well-marked role in the panorama of Swiss Style. Though considered by some authors as somehow dogmatic in aesthetic terms, it is also visible that the School was more forward thinking that most of the Swiss style schools at the time and had a very open-minded pedagogy. Just like any dynamic institution, the School was made by those who took part in it, both lecturing or attending there: every idea, every experience, every conversation, every small interaction between them matters. This is the bottom line for our project: the simple yet wit holistic principle “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. Every single interaction between the parts, in this case, students and professors, is important. It was them who made it possible for Basel School of Design to became a turning point in the Swiss Design or, even further, in the whole History of Design.
