Munga is an Indian folk tale character from the book 'The Power of a Curse' by Munshi Premchad. This project explores the visual representation of Munga through the descriptions given in the book.
The Dynamic Pose
In the story, Munga is a Brahmin widow who gets tricked by the local attorney into giving him all her money. Gradually Munga loses her mind and becomes the village mad woman.
She roams around in desolate areas, talking to herself and frightening anyone who crosses her path. With a hatchet in hand, she terrorises the attorney and his family, day in day out, and eventually dies at his doorstep succumbing to health problems. However, she continues to haunt them in their dreams.
