Commissioned by Los Muertos (a custom bike shop) to build two motorized bicycles.
The client wanted something lightweight, simple, easy to use and more approachable than a motorcycle and a bike with an engine was the perfect option.
The overall theme of the brief was to do two bikes, one for a female (Spook ) and one for a male (Diesel ). The female bike has more feminine details whereas the male bike was more of a guy’s bike with a stick on tattoo type illustration.
Both bikes have a stitched hand leathered seat which makes it very comfortable to ride around town in ease.
The bikes are based on the Schwinn beach cruiser. It has the long dropped bars, wrapped skilfully in custom leather which gives some kind of a vintage flat tracker feel. It is however still comfortable to pedal as you need to pedal it to start the engine.
Firstly the bikes was stripped down to all their parts and then put back together. Brackets are welded to the frame mounting the small two-stroke engine in its optimal position, modifying the fuel tank making it sit snuck onto the frame, renders a clean integrated look. The frame then follows a process of base colour layer paint being applied setting a clean canvas for the hand painted artwork. All gets sealed into the frame with a couple of gloss layers.
Extras are the fact that you can put a basket on the back of the bike and it also has more durable aluminium pedals. The bike also has vintage light which works when the bike is pedaled.
This bike is a very nice cruiser bike for women and men and makes it easier to get from where you are to where you have to be without worrying about parking, getting too tired to pedal or just to go for a nice scenic ride. It’s cost effective, easy to use and it also looks good.
