GULAG-GUPVI Memorial Museum and Park

GULAG-GUPVI Memorial Museum and Park
GULAG-GUPVI Memorial Museum and Park is part of a historic site of Hussar Barracks in Cegléd, Hungary, which was turned into deportation camp by the Soviets at the end of WW II.
DVM Group redesigned this area to become a museum about this tragic period of the Hungarian history.
One of three identical buildings was to be renovated while also adding cubic volumes clad with charred wood. It would house exhibiton, small conference and educational spaces as well as researcher offices, a museum shop and café. In front of the building a memorial park was to be created as a space of peaceful remembrence of the horrors committed here.
