Wedding invitation illustration
_____________
Back in 2021, I got another bespoke wedding illustration project for a dear friend of mine. I was so honored when the bride asked me to illustrate her wedding e-invitation. Her requests were simple: a bright-colored background with floral-themed illustration consists of some of her favorite fragrant flowers like lily, tuberose, and wijayakusuma (queen of the night). The mood I wanted to portray was warm, bright, and timeless.

I started this project by studying the main floral elements by making sketches and notes based on real flowers I bought at the flower market. I think this step is essential (and also fun) because I need to get familiar with the individual feature of the flowers before jumping on the arrangement.
_____________
Early step of the process: photos and flower sketches.
_____________
The next step was making sketch thumbnails of the page arrangements to see the harmony of overall composition. I used colored pencil too so I can visualize the color combination.
_____________
Page arrangements and compositions.
_____________
After exploring the sketch thumbnails, I arranged the elements. Then I narrowed them down to two sets of composition options (cover and main page).
_____________
Two options of cover and main page composition (digital sketch) and color scheme.
_____________
The bride and groom chose the second option, so here it is! The final look of their wedding invitation. Though the invitation distributed digitally, I printed some of it for memento and photo-styling purpose. The wedding was held intimately in the middle of pandemic. That's why health safety protocol card also included along with the venue map.
