Summary of design and illustration process.
First of all, I make many sketches for choosing the best pose for the body.
Drawing lines as bones may help you to understand joints and body figure.
Final pencil sketch: Make sure you draw lines accurately in due to a do better and easier vector inking.
Then, it's time to scan the drawing and vectorize it using the illustrator pen tool or dynamyc sketch plugin.
If you compare this picture with the latest you will notice I have adjusted the size of the left arm and leg.
Here I use the width tool to change and modulate the strokes. Try to use thicker lines in the outside and thinner ones for the inner details, also, don't overload the character with too much details.
Before applying color, a good idead is to prepare a color scheme that works properly with the character.
Choosing the right combination of colors makes your character look better and more consistent.
Converting the plain colors to gradients gives a few volume to the figure.
I give also a thicker outer stroke to make the character stand out.
Add some shapes as shadows using darker colours and gradients with the multiply fusion layer mode.
Finally, add some lights to give a shiny finish and more volume to the girl and here is our character!
