Blunden Art Prize 2023 application. 

The old English name Horsa/Horsna Ford. The river crossing of the river Aire. Used to transport wool and goods to local markets in Pudsey, Shipley and Bradford. My concept involved a group of life sized sculpted pack-horses crossing the river Aire weighted down with goods for market partially submerged within the river Aire. Sited within a stone river plinth with incorporated seating reflecting the flow of the river and placing the public within the river crossing concept. Submission sketch design and clay maquette. Lead horse and ponies. Community workshops would involve site visit following artist introduction and presentation of visuals and maquette explaining personal research undertaken to produce artists concept artworks. Scale, materials and research would be done within the school to create a sense of ownership and giving the local children a insight on how an artist problem solves the artist brief.
