Washington Recognizes EWU’s Contribution to the CFD

Spokane, Washington-based real estate professional Keith Scribner has built dozens of commercial properties, including commercial retail centers, restaurants, and office buildings through Scribner Investments, a real estate development company he founded in Spokane. Keith Scribner graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Eastern Washington University (EWU).

The State of Washington recognized EWU for widely supporting the Combined Fund Drive (CFD). Out of the six universities in Washington, EWU had the greatest participation in CFD. About a quarter of EWU employees contributed towards the CFD. Some of the donations were used to bolster scholarship programs, while some went for the support of EWU's four colleges. A part of the CFD also went to local nonprofits that deal with food insecurity and other social issues.

CFD was established by the State of Washington as a giving program for active public workers and retirees. Over the last 35 years, Washington has been one of the most generous states in the country. Every year, active and retired government workers pledge more than $5 million to local, national, and global charities. More than 1,700 charities benefit from Washington State's CFD.
