Evans Chebet Wins the 2023 Boston Marathon

With an MBA in finance from Portland State University, Graeme Queen is the senior director for IT solution delivery at an insurance company in Oregon. He has been with the company since 2011 and oversees budgeting for $10 million in operating expenses. Outside of work, Graeme Queen is an avid runner who hopes to one day qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Kenyan runners were once again dominant at the Boston Marathon in 2023. Last year's champion Evans Chebet defended his title with a finish time of 2:05:54. Two-time Olympic silver medalist Hellen Obiri was the fastest woman, finishing in 2:21:38. This marked the third consecutive year that Kenyan runners won the male and female race.

Chebet, despite winning last year, wasn't the favorite in 2023. That distinction belonged to Eliud Kipchoge, who not only holds the world record for the marathon but is considered among the greatest distance runners of all time. Kipchoge finished in sixth place and has now only lost three of the 15 major marathons in which he participated.

Tanzania's Gabriel Geay finished in second place behind Chebet, and Kenyan Benson Kipruto finished in third place.
