I was comissioned to create a package design for Your Lover's Coffee brand (www.instagram.com/your_lovers_coffee) founded by a Ukrainian musician and blogger Mykyta. In his own words, he got tired of the common minimalist design and needed something rich in colour and details to evoke a warmer, playfull retro feeling.
Mykyta has a very peculiar style in music and fashion. Keeping that in mind, I decided to lean towards the psychedelic side in my design which fits Mykyta's style best and makes the coffee package stand out.
According to the playful name of the brand, I picked a few keywords associated with it, like love, sin, pleasure, temptation, and depicted them by the recognisable symbols of the the apple tree and the serpent which seduced Eve in the garden of Eden.
I made only a couple of drafts since I had a pretty clear image in my mind already.
The first colour draft seemed too loud to me, which is why I opted for a black background to balance it out.
I picked four different colours to be used for different types of coffee beans.
Mykyta's feedback was positive, he praised the drawing style and palette and was generally happy with the result of our collaboration, and so am I.
