Christopher J. Henneforth's profile

The CFA Designation as a Path to a CFO Position

An accomplished senior executive and entrepreneur, Christopher J. Henneforth has held a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 2003. He went on to work in both the lending and money management fields and co-found two successful companies, at which he continues to serve in leadership positions. In the early 2010s, Christopher J. Henneforth became chief financial officer (CFO) of two companies including Omnia Medical, where he serves as CFO.

As the business training organization Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) puts it, the CFA is great for any finance professional who wants to climb the corporate ladder and become CFO. Other degrees (such as the MBA) and industry credentials (such as the CPA) can also prove extremely helpful, and no specific academic qualification or professional certification is universally required of prospective CFOs. However, the CFA credential is particularly advantageous for people who want to work in the banking, investment management, or equity research sectors. Often earned in addition to an MBA or another academic qualification, the CFA requires candidates to pass three comprehensive exam levels and meet a range of professional requirements.
