My Neighbor Totoro: Semper Fortis Semper Fidelis

Following the success of our Spirited Away screen print "Carpe Diem Carpe Noctem", Bottleneck Gallery commissioned a follow up based on the Studio Ghibli animation "My Neighbor Totoro" as a thank you to everyone who had bought and enquired about the previous print. Much like our previous print, "Semper Fortis Semper Fidelis" employs glow-in-the-dark ink to give a secondary layer of meaning to the illustration.

Using the architectural ligne claire style of the Spirited Away print, this image sees Satsuki and her younger sister Mei waving merrily as a giant Totoro flies past over head. During the night, a grinning Catbus sits above the Kusakabe's "East-Meets-West" style abode, whilst Tetsuo Kusakabe, shown in silhouette, wonders what his daughters are getting up to.

It was a pleasure to create this print for Bottleneck Gallery and for all of our supporters. The process really reminded us of the joys of childhood, when everyday was an adventure and summer lasted forever.

This print is limited to a run of 100 and has now sold out
