Türkiye'de Ağır Müziğin Geçmişi

Türkiye'de Ağır Müziğin Geçmişi (History of Heavy Music in Turkey) is a trans-media music archive project. It is a website, YouTube channel, podcast and most recently a printed book. This presentation showcases works from these mediums.
Website
Central to the project is the website, which was published in 2021. The idea is a horizontal timeline of events. The user goes back in time by dragging the screen horizontally.

• I felt innovative as I coded the design for TAMG since I was coding a horizontal website for the first time. The timeline makes the user travel in time.
• Having roots in Facebook as a page, I customised the Featherlight.js lightbox plug-in to show the archive documents in big picture with its description and comments section. The lightbox is shaped after the dimensions of the original image file and it’s fully responsive. If the original image is huge, then it is resized to fill the screen. That wasn’t a feature of Featherlight.js, I remember having long sessions of JavaScript coding.
• The timeline can be filtered by bands, people, location, and event type. Pages for bands and people become a “profile page”.

The book
In February 2023, book of the project has been published by Karakarga Publishing as part of muzikmentor Series. It is currently only in Turkish. Apart from writing the book, I designed the inside pages in Adobe InDesign.
...and two samples from those inside pages to show most of the character/paragraph styles:
That QR code is a solution for not to print image within the book. Instead, these QR codes are linked to pages from the project's website and provides the viewer with the documents of the mentioned event, such as photograph, newspaper article, or concert poster/ticket.
