I created, editing and shot these series of videos along with my collueges for the Enviromental Science Dept. Some footage was shot by me, motion graphics created by me. Some elements were stock music and footage, along with images from the OUR Department. Winning a Telly Award helped the launch the VIP program to help professors create innovative videos for their courses.

The video production team in UNCW’s Office of Distance Education and eLearning, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, has been awarded a Silver Telly in this year’s 42th annual Telly Awards.
The team’s video, titled “Ft. Fisher Field Trip,” placed in the general non-broadcast category. The project was created to support student learning in the environmental sciences labs. Due to the pandemic, the video was a component of a revised, traditionally face-to-face lab course to accommodate remote learning.
The winning entry was from a series of virtual tour videos produced by DEeL team members Brittany Denning, instructional designer; Jack Horn, video producer; and Julia Denigris, video technician; Environmental Sciences Lecturer Amy Long; and Kayla Hoopes, lead graduate teaching assistant.
“Our office is here to help faculty make their courses engaging and interesting for students, so I was excited to be a part of these virtual tours, especially knowing that it would be fun and educational for the students to see,” said Horn. “I’ve been blessed to be a part of several Telly and Emmy award-winning projects over the years, so as I was editing and working on this video, I knew right away we had something special.”
The Telly Awards is a premier award honoring video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, the Telly Awards receive over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents. Entrants are judged by the Telly Awards Judging Council—an industry body of over 200 leading experts, including advertising agencies, production companies, and major television networks, reflective of the multiscreen industry.
