Shortfilm: The awakening of the peculiar alien Shane Gloop
This feels like a loong time ago. This was my first ever finnished 3D project. It was a part of class where we learned to use Maya. I made this film with one of my classmates, Kyrre, both of us had used Blender a little bit before, so this is not completly a 3D beginner project, but almost.
I learned soo much as you can see!
We did not learn to rig for this project, but we used David O'Rilleys free rigs and modified them to suit our film. So we changed the heads and modified the bodies to look like what we needed. I did make everything harder for myself as usual, and had to do som skinweights anyway, because I insisted on having ripped clothes on the zombie. It was a huge learningprocess! But I still love rigging haha.
Work in progress
The video under is part of a showreel i did in 2021, and shows some of my amazing beginner skills in animation, hehe. It also shows some behind the sceenes which is fun!
On the film we made all the props, about 50/50. Kyrre made the woman in the hood and animated her, and I made the zoombie and animated him. I also did the bird and spiders.
Kyrre fixed the light and camera and compositing, those are still things I am trying to learn for my bachelorfilm!
Full Film
I tend to find behind the scenes more interesting that the actual film, but I guess some people like the film as well, so here it is. Keep in mind it was the first thing ever animated in 3D, and this was 2 years ago (in 2021)
Also, this story might be very confusing because its not ment for other people and is filled with inside jokes and the whole story is basically an inside joke. I will write a litte explanation under the video so you can read after watching: no spoiling hehe.
The little explanation
Basically Shane Gloop is a force/soul, that little glowing crystal. This girl wants to steel the force, and it is located on this cementary guarded by a zoombie with no brain.
