CONTACT/CONVERSE
CONTACT/CONVERSE is a series of screenprints exploring the formal and spatial relationships between photographs that can only be seen on the photographer's contact sheet. Largely considered merely a practical editing device for the photographer's eyes only, the contact sheet operates as a narrative structure, much like a storyboard. The path of the camera can be traced from one frame to the next, and new, fictional landscapes begin to emerge as lines and forms cross the boundary from one frame to another. The photographic image, dissected into a bitmap, is perfectly clear at a distance but begins to dissolve as the viewer moves closer to observe the detail of the print.
