My design concept comes from the building, of Thean Hou Temple. A traditional temple of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu in Malaysia. Analyze and brainstorm through the internal and external architecture of Thean Hou Temple. For example, the roof design, rafters, painted beams, glazed roof tiles, caisson ceilings, sculptures, and more.

Mask Design Idea Development
In the design process, I focused too much on the design outside of the face and ignored the overall harmony. As a result, there is no smooth connection between the face and the external design. So, I change it and make it a unit as one. Based on the color side, I chose the same color as the building body. The whole is mainly red, with yellow and orange colors. It looks very festive and has a Chinese-style feel.

In the final mockup part, I decided to print out the design layer by layer. Then, I use double-sided tape and glue to connect them and fill the outline with a black pen. A few layers of thick paper are superimposed in the middle to increase the three-dimensionality of the picture. In conclusion, finalize the mask mockup.

Making Process
I printed out the design follow to the size I wanted.
Materials: A4 paper, glue, double-sided tape, blader, scissors, and black pen.
I use glue or double-sided tape to stick each layer together and cut out the shapes one by one.
White paper with a thickness of about 5-6 layers will do and make sure that each layer adheres firmly. Then draw the outline with a black pen on the periphery of the cut shape.
Finally, add an extension to the connection to facilitate the stitching of all shapes.
All the shapes use the same method and just stick all the shapes together.
