VD8 Menu Music Selection is a collection of downtempo electronic music I produced and mixed for the 2022 video game Validate: Struggling Singles in Your Area, and is my second EP.
The game was developed over the course of approximately three years (Sept. 2019 - Sept. 2022) and I produced music and sound effects for various game menus, cinematics, credits sequences, trailers, etc. for about half of this time. This represented writing 15-20 backing tracks 2-4 minutes in length each, and mixing and mastering about 20-25 over the course of 18 months.
Most tracks were concept music or supplementary audio for materials like trailers and social media posts, although I did also provide some hooks and audio samples that were written into the final game's official soundtrack. The most prominent is the slower, arpeggio-type motif that appears in "The Wrong Turn" and "The Way Through".
The most viewed track of the collection is likely "Character Select - Mellotron Mix V2", which was used as a backing track for the game's Kickstarter trailer; the Kickstarter went on to raise over $47,000 in 30 days (July - August 2020).
As of December 2022, the Kickstarter trailer video above has just over 10,100 plays, with roughly 20% of them watching the video from start to finish.
