‘Wedding Dress for Clare Middleton’

This outcome was derived from my love of the story behind Park Hill and of the love stories that formed within Park Hill. In particular, the infamous love story of Jason and Clare.  Leaning over the side of the suicide-famous bridge, Jason scrawled his declaration of eternal love upside down with a paint can. She said ‘yeah’ but died of cancer before she could make it down the aisle. This is a wedding dress for Clare.
Inspired by the initial aerial sketches of Park Hill, the body is a weave of architectural structure, which already resembles the female form, with a traditional skirt to demonstrate the honesty of working class life.
Created as a graphic illustration, the piece is created in such a way that is meant to be translatable to the original working class Park Hill dwellers of the 60s right up to the current, media fixated audience.
