  The topic of my global issue was Gender-based violence against women and feminism. I decided to make a digital collage about my issue. I added the TW because the content can be upsetting and graphic to some. I wanted to illustrate the severity of the issue, since it is prevalent worldwide. I was inspired by a video campaign called " It’s On Us – How We Talk to Girls & Boys Matters - Rape Culture - Hatch" which I mention and link in my assignment PDF. In the center lies a faceless and lifeless woman wrapped in a blanket. I added the universal woman symbol and a globe to represent all women across the world. I also added the upsetting quotes that many victims hear when they are survivors of abuse. The juxtaposition of the text and iconography, I hope to spread awareness about how society treats abuse victims and also to impact the viewer to challenge their own views on the issue if they are problematic. Our choice of words can greatly impact our stance on the issue, it is important to take action before it is too late. It is also important to practice empathy and kindness for the survivors of abuse and violence, and to not resort to victim blaming and misogynistic ideologies. These actions do more harm than good, it is never the victim's fault, but solely of the abuser.
