"Portrait of an Artist"
Chalk Pastel to Digital Portrait Series
"Portrait of an Artist", is a rather large, quickly-rendered chalk pastel illustration from the imagination of visual artist, Beth Courtright-Detwiler (c. 2022)
This intuitive, roughly hewn, cartoon image was created on brown paper at Word is Art Studio in Jerome, Arizona. This original drawing is currently being modified into a developing series of digital paintings which are executed on an old Gateway PC using Adobe Photoshop CS5.
The 2 images shown further down the stream, titled "Bird Mask I" and "Bird Mask II", are the first digital works completed in the painting series and have been derived from a photo of the original chalk drawing.

Bird Mask I & Bird Mask II
These images show digital modifications of color palette & design as derived from the original photo image of chalk pastel drawing "Portrait of an Artist".
These digital paintings are designed in Adobe Photoshop CS5, using a hand-held mouse, layered color & brush applications, and multlple filters.
