Based in Lahti Finland, Solstice is a mixed-use facility “live work complex.” The project is part of an international competition to redevelop a heavily industrial region of Lahti.
The apartment complex features dynamic windows that track and follow to sun to provide maximum heat gain from the sun. During the evening, the windows retract and become fully flush with the structure. This allows for the building be become as closed and tight as possible helping to maintain heat within the structure.
