Resurrection Life
Acrylic on Canvas
This is a painting of two doves used in the purification ceremony to pronounce lepers cleansed in the book of Leviticus.
The five feathers soaked in blood, from the slain dove, represent the death and shedding of Christ’s blood for sinners. The other dove that was let loose represented the resurrection of Christ.
Being one in Christ means that we died and rose again with Him. Sin is like leprosy, a disease. The only way to be cleansed from sin is receiving Christ into our hearts. Setting the dove free typifies His justification upon sin. His resurrection becomes the first fruits and representation of His people. It signifies liberty, freedom without restraint and full discharge from guilt, shame, condemnation and death.
Through Christ’s sacrifice, we rise up from the ashes and set free from the clutches of darkness.
Leviticus 14:5-7
Then the priest shall order that one of the birds be killed over fresh water in a clay pot. He is then to take the live bird and dip it, together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, into the fresh water. Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be cleansed of the defiling disease, and then pronounce them clean. After that, he is to release the live bird in the open field.
