You don't need a blockbuster story to write great narrative.

The art of the genre is found in the paths you draw over even the most mundane experiences. String words together left to right as a means of conveying a reader through an event is a challenging, but ultimately very rewarding way to participate in psychedelia. You're literally using the basic building blocks of reality to give people out of body experiences.
