Project Info
Name: Images from the real / virtual life
Authors: Benazir Basauri featuring The Internet
Description: Animated GIFs, prints and mixed media shown as an art installation or separately that explore the relationship between the cities and nature, showing the contrast between the chaotic growth of the cities and the organic development of nature. By using this media it also wants to show that art should be open to all publics, a collaborative kind of art, reforced by the fact that this images were in part taken from the internet, under the creative commons license.

----------------------------------------------------THE PROCESS---------------------------------------------------------------
There are times that I jump right into digital, without any actual sketch. This time I mixed up china ink and then applied digital edition.
This piece started with watercolours and china ink, then it went digital.
This piece was concieved digitally, first I vectorized a picture and then the background came collecting images under Creative Commons with "cities" as main topic.
This was also fun. I choosed a photograph, then draw it with ink and then it went digital. The background is also made by images under creative commons license, what they all have in common is the topic: cities and nature.
-------------------------------------------------THE RESEARCH----------------------------------------------------------------
"NEW MEDIA ART Map"
This is part of the pretty long research I did for the project. Yeah, I´m a nerd, and proud.
"GIF ART Map"
Research of the Gif Art. I though it was important to do and show my research, since there is still few information about it, and we want this art to be as open and inclusive as possible.
---------------------------------------------APPLICATIONS----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Installation" GIFs animations, giclée prints and mixed media
- National School of Fine Arts, Lima-Perú.
So, the way I wanted to show this project could vary:
Online: via webs, blogs or social media, showing the animated GIFs and illustrations.
In real life: As an art installation that shows all media used (GIFs, prints and physical research), or in events or shows that focused on one particular media, for example, video festivals that would show only the animations or art exhibits that show only the prints. My main goal is always to achieve the wider range of public, in order to make art more open.
Name of the project
Poster design for the the show at the National Fine Arts University of Lima, Perú.
I quoted the internet as co-autor because I believe in the power of open information and got lots of feedback and inspiration from that media.
My illustration "Let´s Merge" was on the cover of the invites for the show "ARTE, CONSTRUCCIÓN Y DIVERGENCIA" that took place at the Centro Cultural de Bellas Artes (Lima - Perú).
Part of the exhibition "ARTE, CONSTRUCCIÓN Y DIVERGENCIA" at Centro Cultural de Bellas Artes, Lima - Perú.
Part of the exhibition at CASA CASTILLA, Lima - Perú.
Postcards were printed and distributed all over Lima.
My illustration featured on the postcards.
