"Nome di famiglia: Munch" a picture book about me and the painter Edvard Munch.

Hi! I'm Federica Aglietti, a young Italian illustrator. I want to tell you the story about the realitazion of my picturebook "Nome di famiglia: Munch". Everything have started when I got sick with a condition called Fibromyalgia. After being looked at, I decided to talk about what had happened to me. The art of the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch helped me understand how suffering could be a means to use to create something. This book was my way of reacting to the disease.

So I decided to tackle various topics that people often don't want to talk about. How:

I identified with a young Edvard Munch and tried to tell his experiences connected to mine. Munch has had a life full of family losses from various illnesses. His contact with death has always been very close.

Death and the girl, Edvard Munch

The whole story of the painter stems from the death of his mother from tuberculosis. He lost it when he was 4 years old. From that moment on, every loss carried in his mind, that of his mother. Only in old age did he manage to paint the event.

Pietas

Even in love the painter always sought pain. His longest lasting relationship with Tulla Larsen ended violently. She shots him by removing the finger of one hand.
