A principal regra do Buy Nothing é: Tudo postado nos grupos tem que ser um presente. Não pode envolver qualquer tipo de troca de dinheiro ou mesmo ser um comércio.
O Buy Nothing pode ser definido como um movimento social, significando ação de grupo, trabalhando em direção a um objetivo social. Mas existe uma contradição embutida no Buy Nothing, ele é inerentemente sobre coisas e, nesse sentido, consumo.

The main rule of Buy Nothing is: Everything posted in groups has to be a gift. It cannot involve any kind of money exchange or even be a trade. Buy Nothing can be defined as a social movement, meaning group action, working towards a social goal. But there's an exclusion built into Buy Nothing, it's inherently about things and, in that sense, consumption.
