A small street in Burgundy, France, near Dijon. I had been playing with the idea of creating a cobblestone street since weeks, when I came along this beautiful scene. It seemed to be perfect for my idea.
Cobblestone streets are easy to find in France. I photographed this one near the market place in Dijon, already planning to blend it into the sunny street image. So I choose a soft, rather boaring light.
After mounting the two files together with a simple masking trick that keeps the light without the asphalt street structure, I put in two images of a rocky wall. Seen from the camera´s perspective, they seem to build a huge hole.
The geometry of the stone was built in Cinema 4D. It took less then 3 minutes, because a cobblestone is basically a cube with a few bumps and dents. I textured it in Adobe Substance Painter, which is pretty much like Photoshop in 3D space. It comes along with a huge number of textures like this granite surface.
I combined 4 stone models with 4 different stone textures and arranged them manually in Cinema 4D, then lit and rendered them along with an alpha mask.
You can never have too many cow pictures on your HD drive. That one moos french, so it perfectly fits into my composing image.
The sunlight was painted in Photoshop, the haze and the atmosphere are creatd with Photoshops Camera Raw Filter, using clarity and structure with negativ values. Et voilá!
