Slice of Life - Comics for Slice

Slice is an Indian fin-tech company and bank challenger based in Bangalore. Founded in 2016, Slice is an app-based credit card provider aiming to revolutionize the financial experience for millenials.

Slice reached out to me, as part of their marketing strategy to build brand awareness through email marketing. The intent was to build an engaging narrative around financial topics that every tech-savvy, modern individual can relate to.

Creative Strategy

Create a monthly webcomic series about the love-hate relationship with money every average urban Indian has between the ages of 18-34 years, to be floated on Slice's emailers & newsletter. Our target audience prefers digital banking over traditional methods so the intent was - make banking fun!

Conceptualisation

In order to talk about money in a fun and interesting way, rather than showing human characters, I anthropomorphized them. Animals talking about finance is much more disarming than humans talking about finance.

Character Design:

The comic revolves around multiple characters (say 5-6) who all belong to the same comic universe but only make appearances in each strip on a rotational manner/ as and when it deems fit.

- The personality of each character matchs their animalistic counterparts.

- Each comic is a conversation between only two (or max 3) of the characters at a time.

- Each comic is set in a different scenario - two colleagues at office, boss and employee, father and son, flatmates at home, friends at a bar etc.
