Meet VisionAid™. Patents Pending.

Wondour™ was tasked with creating a pair of electronic glasses that can help legally-blind and low-vision people see again. We're helping people with Wet & Dry Macular Degeneration, Diabetic and Non-Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Optic-Nerve-Atrophy, Retinitis Pigmentosa, Optic Neuropathy, Ocular Albinism, Stargardt Disease, and over 50 other maladies, a few of which are the leading causes of blindness in the world.
"Gaze™" utilizes eye-tracking to automatically focus where you're looking and reacts to natural and intuitive gestures like squinting for an experience that feels as natural as a normal pair of glasses. Put them on and they wake, take them off and they sleep, it's that simple.
We poured over the details, trying to create a form both beautiful and functional. It was clear after discussions with hundreds of low vision people, that significant functional vision improvement AND style were necessary for VisionAid™ to reach it’s full potential. People were stunned at the instantaneous improvements to their vision, but it was equally important that they looked and felt natural in various social settings. Quite simply, (MOST) people don’t want to walk around looking like a cyborg. So we adopted the term “hyper- normal™” to help guide our design language. These people don’t want or need a gadget, they just wanted to see again, so we aimed to create a low profile design that felt elevated yet familiar to a pair of simple sunglasses.
Some maladies and environmental conditions are heavily impacted by unwanted and competing light sources coming from an individuals periphery. We designed MagneticShield™ to be easily added and removed from the glasses accurately without the necessity of precise handling which is a challenge for low vision people. Just move MagneticShield near the digital lens and magnets will guide you for a perfect connection every time.
The reflective front surface helps hide the advanced cameras and sensor array imbedded in each digital lens ensuring they look as close to a normal pair of sunglasses as possible. This was an important part of achieving the (non-cyborg) aesthetic. We care deeply about the privacy and security concerns of the people who wear these devices, and recognize that their intended uses may include very personal moments of a persons life as well as the lives of those people who come in contact with VisionAid™. As a result, and to ensure safe use, VisionAid™ is NOT an internet connected device and is not capable of recording of any kind.
We designed VisionAid™ as a modular system. This enables the release of new SmartFrame™ and new DigitalLens™ styles in the future that can be purchased to improve the style or functionality of your device.
We conceptualized and designed MagTrim™. These magnetic attachments connect to the front of your VisonAid and help create dramatically different looks: Frameless, Half-Frame, & Full Frame styles. There are a variety of colors and finishes as well so you can best express yourself.  See video below...
CMF designs were an essential part of the process. Material variations make sure your VisionAid™ matches your unique personal style.
In our conversations we observed our aging population frequently took their current glasses on and off, suspending them around their necks for ease of access. In response we designed two lanyard accessories, one for simplicity, and one for extended battery life.
A quick peak behind the scenes. We overlapped the most popular glasses styles in our demographic in the last 50 years to find the path of least resistance. And experimented with a variety of different configurations. The final design & electromechanical engineering was informed by case studies that included a variety of wonderful and helpful low vision participants. Thank you to all involved.
Here's a final look. With love, Wondour™.
