A partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP, Steven C. Beer is a media and entertainment attorney with multiple years of experience. In the course of his duties, he acts as legal counsel for leading music, television, and film companies and represents famous directors, producers, artists, and writers. Also serving as the National Chair of the Company’s Entertainment, Media, and Sports Practice, Steven C. Beer is the executive producer of the “Reading Rainbow” show.

Reading Rainbow, a classic educative and entertaining kids’ show that aired from 1983 to 2006, is set to make a comeback in early 2022. After being off-air for 15 years, the updated show returns to mitigate the effects of learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The new show will retain the same values and structure but include a new virtual interactive platform and multiple hosts referred to as “Rainbows.”

Previously, the show, which actor LeVar Burton hosted, will now be known as “Reading Rainbow Live,” with a multiple cast to make young learners see themselves as part of the show. Besides featuring the book of the day, the 25-minute episodes will showcase original music, cultural explorations, dance, parties, and nature investigations. The all-inclusive content is aimed at educating young viewers with a broad scope of knowledge.

The biggest inclusion in the revamped show is Looped, an interactive virtual platform that will actively enable viewers to participate in live episodes. Viewers can engage through playing games, being part of a dance routine, getting rewards for providing correct answers, and asking questions about cast members, among other fun activities. Online streaming means children can still access episodes even after the live broadcasts have ended. The new Reading Rainbow Live intends to use an entertaining yet educative learning approach.
