TOMSON RIVIERA | JEWELRY BOX

The project is located in TOMSON RIVIERA Shanghai, occupying the financial vein of Lujiazui, glutted with rich humanism atmosphere.

The owner of this case is a post-90s generation and overseas returnee, who majored in jewelry design in the Royal Academy of Arts and is also engaged in related industries at present. From jewelry to spatial design, the owner praises the fashion of modernism, with a sense of industrial style. At the same time, he also fancies natural and cranky things. His life experience and characteristics are permeating from every corner of the space.

The owner's enthusiasm for jewelry stems from the beauty of structure. The jewelry he designs is like a series of miniature architectures, and the design style is contrary to the overly decorated ones. Meanwhile, his designs also show a logical sense of machinery and nature, full of contradictions and harmony. In this case, space is designed based on this logic.

The living room resembles an open jewelry box, framed by two pieces of marble. Along the way, the spiral staircase draws an curve in the second floor slab, and the other void structure echoes with it, which not only ensures the traffic function of the second floor, but also simplifies the shape. Arc shape sofa follows curve ceiling modelling across half of the living room. Two vertical screens of connect up and down, with light black glass, place at white jewelry box. Main wall of the living room is slightly cut, exhibiting the old cabinet which owner collect.

The peony stone in the tea house withdraws an oriental style, and two pieces of it set up a tea table. Nearby, star-war-style insect makes mechanical representations of the spatial past, present and future. The sun shines through the blinds on the clean and tidy seats. Eastern charm and western features are contradictory but well balanced.

With a solution of privacy, smell, moistness, bedroom and bathroom are designed to open the visual field as much as possible. This space is also a balance between open and closed, calm and delightful, function and vision.

The project, called Jewelry Box, aims at two things. One is the collection. This house treasures the most precious experience and characteristics of the owner. Second is foil. As a keynote, so that these precious show their own brilliance.
